Taking place on 4-13 June 2011, the Melbourne International Jazz Festival will feature over 400 performers in more than 120 events that include 46 free events, 20 Australian premieres, 16 Festival exclusives, six world premieres and 12 national and international collaborations. Performing for the first time in the festival are the incredibly talented Sun Ra Arkestra, Chicago-based brass group Hypnotic Brass Ensemble, as well as German bands such as Faust and Krautrock. The Festival will also feature the veteran jazz composer and alto saxophonist Lee Konitz and the outstanding jazz bassist Ron Carter.
Jazz enthusiasts will also admire the talented line up of local artists which include Paul Grabowsky Trio, James Morrison, Julien Wilson, Tex Perkins, Eddie Perfect, The Raah Project, Jamie Oehlers, Scott Tinkler, Katie Noonan, Simon Baker and many more.
