David Pradella, the Managing Director of Pradella Property Ventures, was presented with a Distinguished Lifetime Achievement Award at the Hotel Motel & Accommodation Association’s recent 2010 National Accommodation Industry Awards for Excellence.
The glittering function which took place at RACV Royal Pines on the Gold Coast on Friday 24th September was attended by over 200 leaders and representatives from the tourism and accommodation industries in addition to the newly appointed Shadow Minister for Tourism, Regional Development and Federal Member for Paterson, the Hon. Bob Baldwin MP. McLeod’s Daughters and Home and Away actress, Sophie Cleary, performed the role of MC at the event with the assistance of former Sydney Swans player Jared Crouch.
HMAA presented their second national Distinguished Lifetime Achievement Award to David Pradella in recognition of his lifetime dedication to the Australian accommodation industry. David's involvement with the tourism industry spans over 30 years, having gained both international experience with Best Western in the USA and domestic knowledge with the Travelodge Group in Australia.
David took up the role of Chief Financial Officer of the Pradella Group of companies; the business established by his family in 1959 and founded the Central Apartments & Hotels in 1984. David oversaw the development, construction and operation of Brisbane's Summit Apartments, establishing the first serviced apartment accommodation chain in Australia. Central Apartments & Hotels is the hospitality division that is wholly-owned by Pradella Property Ventures, one of Queensland’s largest property development, management rights and construction groups. Pradella Property Ventures has built diverse business interests in incorporating residential and commercial developments, hotels and serviced apartments and project management and today employs more than 200 people.

The Hotel Motel & Accommodation Association (HMAA) is the representative body for the Australian accommodation industry and members include hotels, resorts, motels, motor inns, holiday apartments, bed & breakfasts, guesthouses, caravan parks, backpackers, time shares, chains and independent operators in metropolitan and regional Australia, comprising some 60,000 guest rooms across the country.
